In Loving Memory of Ena

Words from her family

Ena (Risbey) Ardiel

Ena (Risbey) Ardiel was born August 6, 1932, in New Westminster, BC, to Ada and Ken Risbey. She grew up on a strawberry farm in Mission, BC.

She married Doug Ardiel on August 26, 1950, and together they made their home first in Bridge River, then Brackendale, then Fruitvale, BC. There Ena decided she was going to get her licence to drive a gravel truck, then became a paramedic and continued serving with the ambulance when she moved to Sechelt, BC. When they retired, they wintered in Arizona for many years. They spent time in Mexico with Tim and Ruby, where she sailed on a boat and swam with the dolphins! She enjoyed going to the pub for a pint or two with her granddaughter Monica. She taught her grandson Jace how to swim, and shared many other special moments with her other five grandchildren. In her later years, she lived at Clayton Heights Care Home.

She was a baptized Jehovah's Witness and enjoyed teaching about the hope she found in the Bible—the promise of God's Kingdom and the resurrection of loved ones here on earth.

She was predeceased by her husband Douglas Ardiel, her brother John Risbey, her son Paul, and her grandson Travis.

She is survived by her four children: Tim (Ruby), Janeane (Alan), and Caralee (Darcy). Her grandchildren Monica, Jace, Afton, Nicolas, Breana, and Ariel. Her great-grandchildren Xander and Zoey.

And many nieces and nephews who said she always smiled—so many memories from when we were all kids!

She was truly a nice person and those who knew her will miss her dearly.

Those we love don't go away — they walk beside us every day.
